How difficult is the DIY installation?

Most customers complete their first installation in 2–3 hours. The cover stretches and stitches on without any adhesive or specialist tools — just the needle and thread included in your kit. We also have video guides on our YouTube channel for every material type.

Do I need to remove my steering wheel to install a DIY kit?

No — DIY kits are designed to be fitted while the steering wheel is still on the car. You simply stretch the cover over the rim and stitch it closed from the back. No airbag disconnection is required.

What tools do I need for the DIY kit?

Everything you need comes in the box: a curved stitching needle, waxed thread in your chosen colour, and a full step-by-step guide. A pair of pliers can help pull the needle through tight sections, but is optional.

Can a beginner get a professional-looking result?

Yes — our covers are pre-cut to your wheel's exact profile, so the hard work is done for you. Follow the guide, take your time on the back seam, and the result will be clean and tight. Thousands of first-timers have achieved showroom results.

How do I clean and maintain my Alcantara cover?

Use a soft-bristle brush or dry microfibre cloth to remove surface dust. For deeper cleaning, lightly dampen a microfibre with water or a dedicated Alcantara cleaner — never use alcohol-based products, as they can damage the fibres and cause fading. Always brush in one direction.

How do I care for Nappa or Perforated Leather?

Wipe down with a lightly damp microfibre cloth for everyday cleaning. Apply a quality leather conditioner every 3–6 months to prevent drying and cracking. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can fade the leather over time.

Will the stitching fade or come loose over time?

Our waxed thread is UV-resistant and colourfast — it won't fade under normal use. The stitching is hand-tensioned consistently, so it remains tight for the life of the cover. Avoid picking at the thread or using abrasive cleaners near the seam.

Is the Carbon Grip material durable for daily use?

Yes. The Carbon Grip composite is designed for high-wear, high-performance environments. It handles heat, moisture, and daily grip contact exceptionally well. Wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth — no specialist products needed.

How does the Pro-Fit mail-in service work?

After placing your order, we email you our workshop address within 1 hour. You remove your steering wheel from the car and post it to us. Our master trimmers hand-stitch your chosen cover, then return it via tracked next-day courier — usually within 48–72 hours of arrival.

Do I need to disconnect the airbag before sending my wheel?

Yes — you must remove the airbag unit before shipping. This is a safety and legal requirement; airbags cannot be sent via standard courier. We recommend having a qualified mechanic remove it if you're unsure. The steering wheel column is safe to drive on while your wheel is with us.

How do I package my steering wheel for posting?

Wrap the wheel in bubble wrap or foam padding and place it in a sturdy cardboard box. Write your order number on the outside of the parcel. We recommend using Royal Mail Special Delivery or DPD with insurance, as the wheel is your responsibility until it reaches us.

What happens if my wheel is damaged in transit?

We inspect every wheel upon arrival and will contact you immediately if we spot any damage. We recommend insuring your parcel for the replacement value of the steering wheel. Any pre-existing damage that affects the stitching will be discussed before we proceed.

Can I choose a different material or stitch colour after I've ordered?

Yes — contact us as soon as possible after placing your order and before you post your wheel. Changes can usually be accommodated with no additional admin fee, subject to material availability.

How long does a DIY kit take to arrive?

DIY kits are dispatched within 2–3 working days and typically arrive within 3–5 working days via Royal Mail Tracked or DPD. Express options are available at checkout.

How long does the Pro-Fit service take end-to-end?

From the moment we receive your wheel, turnaround is 48–72 hours. Including posting time both ways, most customers have their wheel back within 7–10 days. We'll keep you updated at every stage via email.

Can I get a faster turnaround for a special event?

Yes — contact us before ordering and we'll do our best to accommodate urgent requests. Priority slots are available for an additional fee during peak periods.
